The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is estimated to be the legal home of 400,000 companies.  Despite being under pressure from worldwide Governments  demanding greater transparency, BVI remains one of  the most popular offshore financial centres. 

The Caribbean hosts other notable offshore havens such as the Cayman Islands and Belize.  The Caymans have seen a few turbulent years during which multiple financial institutions have pled guilty to tax evasion and hiding client assets.
